About Midstates

On a beautiful sunny afternoon at Leon Clark's Hickory Hills Farm, Martinsville, IN , the day before the 1973 National Show (7/19/73), the Midstates Mule & Donkey Show Society was formed. The club was organized to promote donkeys and mules, by having spring & summer shows, picnics and drives. Originally the club included the states of Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky & Ohio. Michigan was added in 1977. Although we are a 5 state club, we have and welcome members from all over.

The club articles of incorporation stated the following goals:

	To improve the conformation of the donkey and mule by careful breeding.
	To further interest in the donkey and mule by promoting donkey and mule classes at all suitable shows throughout the several states of the United States.
	To communicate, correspond, and exchange information for donkey and mule owners throughout the U.S. and to act as a center and clearing house for the exchange of all information concerning donkeys and mules, their breeding, showing, driving and classification.
	To promote the showing and driving of donkeys and mules.
	To prevent cruelty to donkeys, mules and like animals.
	To provide scientific, literary and educational information as to the donkey and mule, their history, past, present and future.
